This thesis focuses on the application of embedded system on audio-on-demand system, which mainly is used in such occasions as background music broadcasting, voice classroom etc. And this system provides individualized MP3-on-demand service, which is of great practical value and market prospective. Considering the economical and specific value of the product, the system utilizes the on-demand system of C/S architecture consisting of embedded player terminal designed by us. The embedded system is a specific computer system that focuses on the application on the basis of computer technology including both software and hardware, and is qualified with the rigid requirement of application system about function, reliability, cost, size and power consumption.The embedded system of on-demand system is mainly embedded in the design of MP3 player terminal. The player terminal applies embedded exploring board and the OS uses uClinux. According to the requirement of the system, we have modified and improved the guiding system of exploring board system. Ethernet technology applied in terms of on-demand system, proliferate the kernel of Linux, explore the driver for the embedded exploring board required component. The driver is compiled with kernel in the process of development in order to provide standard application program interface for system and bottom support for the further exploration of the system. The player terminal mainly receives the MP3-stream on LAN to decode and play and is able to receive the server control signal to control the terminal by server. Meanwhile, it's able to transfer the terminal external device (keyboard e.g.) onto the server to accomplish the request from server. The server mainly functions as the provider of MP3-stream service for various player terminal.This thesis states the relative tech of systematic design on the basis of exploration and mainly introduces the designing concept. Combining with the exploration of this audio-on-demand system, the exploration procedure of the embedded system is presented.
