With the use of the computer in the electronics, the embedded system becomes a newtechnical focus and orientation in IT field following the step of computer and networktechnology. Meanwhile, the wide embedded applications call for better performance andfunctionality of embedded system. The 32-bit embedded RISC microprocessors provided byARM having high performance together with low power consumption and system cost, isused wider and wider.uClinuxis derived fromLinuxand inherits lots of virtues ofLinuxsuch asopen source, it has special implements in the case of not having MMU and supports widerange processors and many drivers.The paper lays stress on the research and application of embedded system based on ARMprocessor anduClinuxoperation system. From this we design a kind of Tax-controlled CashRegister based on embedded system with the S3C44B0X as its CPU. In this paper, we generally depict the concept of embedded system and the kind ofembedded processors and depicit detaily the architecture ofuClinuxcore and the register,instruction set. We also study the source code of uClinux, analyse the memory management,architecture,file system and so on. When we successfully transplant the system, we analysethe condition and give the transplant course in detail.Based on detailed analysis of ARM processor and uClinux, the circuits of main hardwaredesign of embedded Tax-controlled Cash Register are completed independently. As forhardware design, the detailed construction and function description of every hardwarecomponent are given. We develop some drive program and text successfully.In conclusion, the kind of Tax-controlled Cash Register based on embedded system andthe 32-bit embedded microprocessors meets the needs of consumers. It has a wide market andwill be the main product in.the future.
