Because of the limitation of the traditional analog cable television transmission technology, it is difficult for the operator of the cable TV to offer rich and colorful value-added service to large numbers of TV set users. In the last few years, with the development of data compressing technology and Internet, broadcast television digitization has got the development at full speed. As the general coding of moving pictures and audio information, MPEG-2 is used in wide scope.In the thesis, research has been done on the system part (including the procedure stream, transport stream and PES packet) and video part (including the video stream structure and video stream characteristic, etc.) of MPEG-2 standard in detail, analyses the key technology in the MPEG-2 encoding and decoding processes, which includes Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) and Inverse Discrete Cosine Transform (IDCT), quantization and inverse quantization, Zigzag Positioning , run-length coding, entropy coding , Huffman coding , motion estimation and motion compensation. At last, the design course of a video player is introduced, and quantitative analysis to the performance of the system is made.The video player designed in the thesis has the following functions: it can receive TS stream through network; it can play TS stream normally; it can play I frame synchronously; it can realize fast play with high efficiency; the size of its window can be changed freely by users. We can extend the system and add many new functions (such as adding audio play, and many programs play at the same time, etc.), so, it can be used in many occasions. |
