Space-Time Coding (STC) based on the MIMO can achieve high speed data ratewith limited transmit power and frequency bandwidth, and it has been adopted by the3rd generation mobile standards (CDMA-2000&W-CDMA). The current researches onSpace-Time Coding are focused on the following areas, construction and optimizationof Space-Time Codes, combination STC with other channel coding techniques, STC inimperfect channels and combination STC with two-dimensioned Spatial-temporaltechniques (for example, array signal processing) et. alThis dissertation is mainly focused on the space-time coding technique bycombining array signal processing technique. The principles of space-time coding areintroduced and the encoding and decoding theories, features and performance ofdifferent types of space-time coding are given in the dissertation. Two new space-timecoding schemes are proposed. One is An Added Spreading Sequences Space-TimeBlock Code and the other is Vandermonde Structured Vertical Layered Space-timeCodingIn the dissertation, the contributions of the author are:1. a new space-time block code, which introduces orthogonal spreading sequences into the basic structure of space-time block code, and a blind decoding system, which carries out the decoding without estimation of the channel are presented. Combined with the orthogonal character of spreading sequences, the orthogonal structure of space-time block code,the noise subspace of the received signal are exploited to achieve the decoding without knowledge of the channel. Simulation results show that the new space-time block code has good performance at word error rate(WER) and bit error rate(BER).2. A Vandermonde structured vertical layered space-time coding is proposed in this paper. With the special structure of Vandermonde vertical layered space-time code and based on the famous Music algorithm in array signal processing, a subspace decoding algorithm without knowledge of the channel is presented. The simulation results show that the performance of this algorithm can approach that of the ZF algorithm with perfect channel state information.
