Grid is a new technique constracted on Internet, which possesses more and more important position and wider and wider prospect in the field of Computer Science Technology, due to its behalf of scientific cooperation and engineering computing. In this thesis, author mainly studies on the definition and realization of Grid Service Markup Language, which is based on environment of VAGA Computing Grid that assumed by Institute of Computing Technology, Chinese Academy of Science. At present, there is a lot of distinction between our country and others in applications, administrations and engineering constructions, therefore, there are some new requirements in research of grid. However, the research has lost its balance when investigated in the whole world, that is, grid has been regarded as a kind of infrastructure and been ignored in the field of grid service markup language and GUI for grid user.Therefor, in this thesis, author, together with the other members of group, has designed Grid Service Markup Language(GSML), giving its difinition and analysing its language elements and grammar rule. What's more, author has studied and analysed GSML on its programming model, mapping language, running model and debugging model, comparing GSML with other languages that are prevailing in network. During the realization of GSML, author has developed a kind of GUI for grid user, achieving interpretation and preprocessing of GSML file and display for the grid user. The language of GSML studied in the thesis is important and useful to seek in the research of GUI and user programming environment on grid, providing experimental data for the diversion of user interface to the schema of Utility Computing.
