| Mobile communication technology changes with each passing day, The course of globalization cries for a unitively global mobile system. It is impossible for the existing equipments of mobile communication system of the second generation to meet the requirement, so the new ones to realize the globalization —WCDMA(Wideband Code Division Multiple Access) is showing great expectations. [3]It is unnecessary for WCDMA to require synchronization between Base-Stations , and the neighboring Base-Stations use different spread-frequency sequences. The merit of asynchronous operations is that the timing standard does not depend on GPS anymore. But to communicate between Base- Stations and mobile, it is necessary to search the aim Base- Station first and to found the timing synchronization. So it is a requirement for the cell search to make sure which Base-Station to offer the serve of communication and to found the timing synchronization. This thesis first studies the three steps of cell search in WCDMA system, that is, slot synchronization, frame synchronization and scramble identification, and then studies the characteristic of the adopted synchronization code and analyses the structure of Digital Matched Filter(DMF) used by synchronization system and proposes a improved structure and realizes it with FPGA besed on VerilogHDL and simulates its function.
