Now, AM broadcast is the interim from analogue signals to digital data. Digitization is the only way of broadcasting technology development. Digital Radio Mondiale (DRM) is the consortium which develops the international specification of the audio and data broadcasting standard for the long, medium and short wave bands. DRM system mainly includes three parts: source coding, OFDM base band transmitting and channel coding. The system architecture of DRM transceiver is analyzed at first. Based on the research of above three critical parts of the DRM receiving systems, the related DRM receiving system is implemented using the object-oriented program technology. Following works are included in the paper.DRM receiving system has been designed and implemented in the computer. Each functional model has been tested and adjusted to meet the system special requires.The demodulating and decoding program of the broadcasting transmitting signals have been implemented. The program can record received signals and analyses the quality of them to make the corresponding improvement. This method can easily modify the scheme of developing phase and deduce the cost.The used algorithms of source decoding, OFDM base band transmitting and channel coding have been simulated and tested. Through analyzing and comparing, the appropriate algorithms are adopted.The software adopts the object-oriented method to implement and transplant easily. At the same time, some performance evaluation results of the implemented DRM receiving system are also presented to find out the calculating bottleneck of the program. From the analyzing results, the each program time percent can be seen clearly and these analyzing data are the important the reference basis in the hardware design. Based on the performance analyzing, the reference architecture of DRM special chip is designed. It can give the reference of the next development of the system on chip.
