Dysmenorrhea is a common clinical gynecological disease which refers to the periodic abdominal pain, the induced lumbosacral pain or even the severe pain and syncope during, before or after the menstruation of women. It affects both work and life in varying degrees, and even influences the quality of life. The dysmenorrhea is divided into the primary and the secondary by western medicine, the genital of woman with primary dysmenorrhea has no organic disease, whereas the pelvic of woman with secondary dysmenorrhea has organic disease. Modern medicine which uses drugs, hormones and surgery for treatment has a quick effect, however, relapses easily and has a greater side effect. The comprehension of the etiologies and pathogenesis of dysmenorrhea is different, for ancient Chinese physicians, but gradually complete. By taking advantage of the ancient Chinese physicians, the etiologies and pathogenesis of dysmenorrhea are divided into four syndromes: wind cold dampness, qi stagnation and blood stasis, Syndrome of asthenia of qi and the deficiency of liver and kidney. Modern Chinese physicians believe the injury is mainly caused by the emotions, the living carelessly or the exogenous six-evil, and also has a relationship with the personal constitution and the special vivo environment before and after menstruation. My instructor thinks that the dysmenorrhea caused by the deficiency of yang is most common, the deficiency of the kidney-yang is primary and cold coagulation and blood stasis is pathogenesis. My instructor, according to the principle of treating the superficiality when vexatious, treating its origin when unhurried and treatment must pursue the origin from the Inner Classic of Emperors, proposes to use warming kidey-yang to treat its origin to achieve the aim of treating both origin and superficiality assisted with warming channel to dispel cold and removing blood stasis to relieve pain to treat its superficiality.
