Since the late Qing Dynasty, in the effort of the western democratic ideas and Chinese people with lofty ideals, the modern Chinese socitey has set off a women’s liberation movement, which takes banning feet-binding and establishing female schools as the core. This movement aims to change the feudal women’s living conditions of discrimination and oppression, as well as the spirit oppression of traditional concept "male domination and female subordination". In order to grasp the outline of women’s liberation movement, based on the study of of shenbao combined with the "gatekeeper" theory of the communication, the paper is divided into three stages of shenbao in the years of1895-1911, and analyses the opinions that are two concerns of banning feet-binding and establishing female schools.This paper is divided into five parts:The first part introduces the significance and research status at home and abroad of this paper, and puts forward the own research methods and innovative points.The second part analyses the history and development situation of shenbao in the years of1895-1911with the "gatekeeper" theory. It is divided into three stages:early progress setters period (1895-1898), middle stodgy conservatives period (1898-1905) and later aggressive reformers period (1905-1911). It paves the way for further study.The third part expounds the efforts and achievement in the propaganda of banning feet-binding of shenbao in the1895-1911. First, it disseminates positively the harm that feet-binding brings to women’s individual, national destiny and children’ quality, etc, so as to lay a solid foundation of pubilc opinion for the women’s liberation. Second, it shows a differert attitude between the west TianZu Meeting and WuXu Reformists’ feet-binding Banning Association, which discloses the relatively conservative ensure standards in a certain historical period of shenbao.The last introduces the "official advocating" plays an important guiding role in the abolition of feet-binding habits, as well as the achievements.The fourth part describes the propaganda of importance in women’s education,as well as school management policy advice and suggestions. First, shenbao managers disseminate the importance of women’s education from women’s own quality and national destiny. Second, it reveals the dilemma faced by female schools that contains the detention of the feudal concept, the lack of female teacher and the insufficiency of school funding. And then shenbao managers propose the educationla philosophy from the social development situation and the western educational expertise. It includes the educational aims of "virtuous wife and good mother", the management of the students’ dress and the dispute of segregated schools or not.The fifth part evaluates objectively shenbao in the propaganda and promoting modern women’s liberation positive pole and limitations with the "gatekeeper" theory.Despite its conservative thinking rampant in a certain historical period and affecting the process of women’s liberation, we should affirm the contribution in the whole during the late Qing Dynasty.
