The Association of Operatic Circle is a non‐governmental organization organized spontaneously by Chinese Traditional Opera artists. The internal responsibilities contains: to resolve disagreements of theatrical troupes and artists, to insure the basic living of artists, to make rules for the performing of the stage, and so on. The external responsibilities contains: to foster a better image, to follow the governmental orders, to communicate between the government and the Association, and so on. In the Republic of China era, there are four stages of Beijing Association of operatic circle, which are the Association of ZHENG YUE YU HUA, the Association of Beijing Public Operatic Circle, the Association of Beijing Operatic Circle, and the association of the National Theatre. As a association which aims to the top rights of Chinese traditional opera artists, the Association of Operatic Circle keeps intrinsic unification except the stage of the Association of Beijing Operatic Circle (which goes different because of the war).This paper is trying to introduce the history of The Association of Operatic Circle and study some key problems in each stage, searching for the internal relation between the Association and society, government,Traditional opera,and the artists. This paper is also to emphasize the importance of Association the in the history of Chinese Traditional opera and the unique value in the study of Peking Opera.
