Nature Stories is one of representative works in artistic song field, which wascomposed by Maurice Ravel. It is a set of five single songs including “The Peacock”,“The Cricket”,“The Swan”,“The Kingfisher”,“The Guinea Hen”, based on a prosepoem of the same title from French modern Novelist Jules Renard in1896. He is alsoan essayist, dramatist. In this work, Ravel not only highlights traditional classic stylein musical structure, but blends novel and special features in composition skills toshape theme image of five kinds of animals. Refer to Music analysis foundation fortheoretical guidance which is written by Professor Peng Zhimin, the thesis conduct acomprehensive research on the five works of melody, pitch, rhythm and theme image,and combine theory study with play practice. It focus on elaborating “Theme Image”from music to performance. Therefore it can provide certain reference for learning,playing Ravel’s vocal works.
