An Anthropological Study On The Art Of Mask In Taiwan

Guansuo Play was the art growing in the field, the simple, honest andgood-natured Xiaotun villagers worked in the field where their ancestors left, theywere rhathymia although their life were tough. Who could thought of those hands fullof horny could play those spears and clubs very well,‘growing cucurbits andvegetables with the mask’, the laugh were oozed from the mask and pervaded in thefield. Since when, some folk arts were disappeared just like the Guansuo mask. Theeconomy value caused by the business, the research prosperous of culture exchange,and the interchange and collision of the outer world, Guansuo Play mask expressedthe features of combination of traditional factors and modern world, which caused thechange of function and meaning.This dissertation take the changes of Guansuo Play mask as the main course, atthe foundation of mask story, the writer want to state the relationship among the mask,village and Guansuo Play, the art features of mask and the cultural implication, thestory of the village cultural elite about the mask,external factors to effect of themask,the smriti and protection of intangible cultural heritage, and a series of problemsof future and development of folk arts.
