Since the1980s, the temples rebuilding phenomenon has become more andmore common across the country of China.. Scholars have studied from variousdisciplines angles. This paper does the Panlong Temple of Funing County, JiangsuProvince as a case to study. The author attempts to use Economics of Religion theoryas a research paradigm and use in-depth interviews and methodology of participantobservation as a research method to analyze the reasons for the prosperity of thelocal Buddhist market and from religious consumers, religious provides, religiousproducts three aspects.Religious market theory is obtained that diversity and competition will makethe overall religious attendance improving in the religious marketplace based on theNew York State census data. However, as Stark say:”Some propositions we putforward to may be tested Chinese religion, some may be amended in accordancewith the actual situation in China.”The author amended some propositions that arenot inappropriate to local religious market according to local situation of Heli. At thesame time, the author did some exploratory studies with religious market theory, anddrew four conclusions.By observing the relevant circumstances of Panglong temple rebuilt at themicro-level,the author analyzed that religious providers is how to create religiousproducts to meet, tempted and even create hearers’ religious needs using variousmanaging means tools, and ultimately promote the prosperity of the religious market.In general, with the particular and complex social phenomenon of temple rebuilt, weneed to understand it in all sides, multi-perspective and multifaceted, and reduceblindness and one-sidedness.
