According to Sartre’s view,writers and philosophers both have their knowledge in this world.But to the philosophers,they may try to explain the word and form their word view.As is to the writers,they always explain the word through their works.Of course,the writers also have their philosophy.Faulkner’s philosophy is a kind of philosophy of time.Sartre is the representative of the Existential Literature,witch belongs to the modernistic literature as well as the stream of consciousness novels.besides,they both care for the problem of time.Sartre once comment to the time of Faulkner’s works,On his opinion,the special writing skills in Faulkner’s works come from his special philosophy,witch is a kind of philosophy of time.Three most important novels of Faulkner among all his works are "Light in August","The sound and the fury"and"As I lay Dying".Tow of them are the representative of the stream of consciousness novels.This article mainly analyzed the concept of the time in Faulkner’s tow stream of consciousness novels,trying to explain the forming reason of Faulkner’s philosophy of time,After the explain,this article also analyzed Faulkner’s innovative attempt to his works.I finally reach the conclusion that Faulkner’s philosophy is a kind of philosophy of time by searching lots of information and referring to Sartre’s view.Faulkner’s time is a kind of mental time that negate the future and want go back to the past time.Faulkner consider this time as the real time,so they can deny the objectively physical time,under this influence,Faulkner accumulated valuable experiences in theory innovation on his works and finally got the acceptation.The spacial knowledge of time correspond with his "look back"view of history,It represents Faulkner’s hesitation,struggle and the special feeling of south American history.This article can mainly be divided into three chapters.The first chapter focus on explaining the "philosophy of time",this chapter can also divided into three parts.the first part want to find the Inheritance and the Innovation that Faulkner done to the west traditional concept of time by recalling the main "philosophy of time"point among all the western philosophy history.so it can provide Preparation conditions for the after chapters.The second part’s mainly discuss the theme of Faulkner’s works and finally drow a conclusion than Faulkner want to express a theme of time.the third part of this chapter I want to explain the meaning and the content of Faulkner’s philosophy of time,in this part,I referred to some Sartre’s views,they include Faulkner’s view of real time, present time and the future time,all of these formed Faulkner’s philosophy of time.The second chapter of this article are divided into tow parts.the former parter mostly discuss the Symbolic significance of "the fool Benjy",besides,I also want to explain another spacial character in Faulkner’s works witch is called Quentin,he has a kind of strong consciousness of death,and he always irresolute.The second part of this chapter mainly discuss the innovation that Faulkner made in his works,and according to Sartre,all these innovations due to Faulkner’s special outlook of the time.He made this to express his special philosophy.The last chapter of this article are also divided into three parts.the former tow parts mainly introduce the special history that Faulkner experienced,Faulkner’s "humanitarianism"and the relationship between them and Faulkner’s philosophy of time.the last part is a Summary of all the article including my opinions on Faulkner’s philosophy of time and the rationality of the philosophy itself.
