Bergman built up a film world full of characteristics of modern people's emotions such as dreamy, lonely, anxious, conflicting and struggling. This thesis begins with the origin of stream of consciousness and its development in the art field. By reference to the development of stream of consciousness from psychology to literature and film, the thesis studied the time and space structure of Bergman's films of stream of consciousness and his unique artistic language such as symbolism and metaphor, etc.
