Research On Chinese Traditional Culture From The Perspective Of Modernity

Chinese traditional culture is the proof of China’s five thousand-year history, and it is also the portrayal of the development of theChinese nation and the source of Chinese people’s way of thinkingand behavior. Since modern times, Chinese traditional culture hasplayed different roles in different periods of social development inChina. Nowadays, in the context of globalization, the role of culturein national development has become increasingly prominent. Cultureas soft power has become an important aspect of enhancing theoverall national strength. In order for culture to play a greater roleand provide better services for the modernization construction, itneeds to constantly excavate traditional culture resources, realize thecreative transformation of traditional culture.From the dimensions of modernity, this paper emphaticallydiscusses the situations and functions of the traditional culture, thevalue of traditional culture in the process of Chinese modernityconstruction， the significance and challenges of the moderntransformation. On this basis, this paper explores the ways tomodernize traditional culture. It has the dual theoretical and practicalsignificance for the traditional cultural heritage and development toachieve the modern transformation of Chinese culture. Under theguidance of Marxism this paper applies the methods of historicalmaterialism, history and logic, the combination of theory and practice,comparative study to consider the modernization of Chinesetraditional culture. First of all, through the analysis of the concept ofmodern and modernity, tradition and traditional culture, discusses ties and differences between the two. On the foundation, it generalizes thecharacteristics and the historical roles of traditional culture, explainsthe status of Chinese traditional culture in the different periods in theprocess of constructing modernity, and presents the moderncircumstances of the traditional Chinese culture as a whole. Then, byanalyzing the plight of modernity and the modernity construction inChinese-style, it explores the significance and value of the creativetransformation of traditional culture, and the challenges faced bytraditional culture, to clarify the reality of Chinese traditional culturein the modernity construction. Finally, on the basis of the previoustwo chapters, the paper analyzes the direction and ways of themodern transformation of traditional Chinese culture, and as apremise to explore the problem of modern transformation of cultureduring the pursuit of modernity period, and how to deal with theissues about the cultural nationality and contemporaneity, culturaluniversality and particularity.
