Exploration And Attempt Of Ink And Wash Language In Graphic Design

With the progress of society, the localization of graphic design has been ahot topic in design circles. The traditional and classical elements enablegraphic design works to show regional and cultural characteristics afterdeformation and fusion. Many modern graphic designers were deeply inspiredby using elements of traditional ink-wash painting language into their designworks.However, very few of the works are distinctive and creative. Throughanalyzing these design works, I found that the traditional art need to exploredin depth, ink-wash painting not only has profound connotation, but also hasestablished its own unique aesthetic system. Besides, the combinations ofink-wash painting symbols and graphic design are too mediocre and simple,which is out of touch with modern aesthetic and design concepts.Based on these problems, I explored the connotation and characteristicsof the language of ink-wash painting. Through investigating the current graphicdesign works, I analyzed the advantages, limitations and applicationtechniques of the combination of ink-wash painting and graphic design. Then, Icreate my own designs and summarized the application rules in graphic design.This thesis focus on exploring the new way to express modern graphic visionsthrough traditional art forms, so that to create graphic designs with uniquecharacteristics and expressive.
