A Preliminary Study On The Social Economy Of Jinan In Shandong Province In Ming Dynasty

Ming Dynasty’s Jinan was not only Shandong’s metropolis, but also a northern importanttown. The process of Jinan’s social economy development was typical in Shandong, even in thewhole northern areas. It showed the new trend of China’s traditional economy development. Wecould not ignore it when we studied the history of regional economy. This paper completelystudied its characters and trends in the process of completely inspecting Ming Dynasty’s socialeconomy of Shandong’s Jinan.This paper included three parts——introduction, text and conclusion.In the introduction, we mainly introduced background of topic, meaning of topic, situationof research, and history of research. The text included six chapters. In the first chapter, wesimply introduced Shandong Jinan’s overview from three sides: evolution of organizationalsystem, area of jurisdiction and natural environment. In the second chapter, we explained thephased development of social economy of Ming Dynasty’s Jinan from three periods: pro-period,on-period and post-period. The whole development route of Jinan’s social economy in MingDynasty could be seen slightly. In the third chapter, the fourth chapter and the fifth chaptermainly included three subjects which could be used to study Jinan’s social economy. In the thirdchapter, we inspected the agricultural development from people, ground and crops. We showedits characters at last. In the fourth chapter, we inspected the development of handicraft industryfrom Cotton Textile Industry, Silk Weaving Industry, The Mining Industry and Salt ProducingIndustry. We showed its characters at last. In the fifth chapter, we inspected the commercialdevelopment from rise of commercial cities, rise of commercial towns and prosperity of templefairs. We showed its characters at last. In the sixth chapter, through longitudinally andtransversally inspecting Jinan’s social economy in the former five chapters, we made characters,levels and trends of Ming Dynasty’s Jinan’s social economy development clear.We concluded the key elements, which influenced Jinan’s social economy in Ming Dynasty,and provided some history enlightenments to the economic construction of today’s district.
