Based on The Dictionary of Chinese Chengyu Category edited by Cai Xiangyang in2009,The Thesaurus of Chinese Chengyu edited by Ye Zixiong in1987, and The Dictionary of Chinese idioms classification edited by Han Shengzhi in1996,the thesis tries to analyze specifically from the voice,grammer, and semantic according to the collected186Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness.The first part analyzes the voice features of Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness, including the consonant, vowel, tone and Pingze aspects. The analysis indicates that the zero consonants,Qi Chihu,the fourth tones take up the largest proportion respectively.In the Pingze aspect,Ze ze ping ping,Ping ping ze ze,Ze ping ping ze,Ping ping ping ze,Ping ping ze ping take up a large proportion, while other types just take up a little proportion. Although not entirely harmonious in temperament, there are some regulations which can be observed.The second part analyzes the grammatical features of Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness.There are all kinds of structures, including joint constituent, subject-verb,verb-object,attributive-head,adverbial-head,conjunction-predicate,verb-c omplement,subjective-object structure, and complex sentences, in which joint structures take up the largest proportion.The Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness can also act as verbs,nouns,and adjectives.There are a large number of Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness which act as predicates,compared with other constituents.The third part analyzes the semantic features of Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness,including the selection of imagery,the adoption of figures of speech,and the representation of all kinds of semantic relations. Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness mainly select human organs as imageries among which the heart takes up the largest proportion.Besides,Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness adopt five kinds of figures of speech,consisting of metaphor, analogy, exaggeration,contrast,and mimic.Parallel,intersection,cause and effect,undertake,and contradiction relations have existed in Chinese idiomatic expressions of sadness.
