This paper selected the response functions of the Chinese responsive words "shi, dui, hao, xing " as the studying contents, categorized them based on the former study and discussed the similar one carefully, and finally concluded the discourse conditions in using the four responsive words. The questionnaire was designed based on these studies, and it was for international students from Nanjing Normal University, who were divided into three groups (primary, junior, senior) according to the length of schooling, in order to investigate and study the international students’using of Chinese responsive words. The data from statistics of questionnaire described the situation of using responsive words, and the collected subjective items from the questionnaire was essential for discovering the subjective factor in responsive words using. In addition, we analyzed and compared the response functions in "yes" and "shi, dui, hao, xing", and we also interviewed the international students who hold English as their mother tongue. The result showed that textbooks and mother tongue are both factors influenced the using of responsive words, but they are not the only factor.
