Reread Tradition

This article analyzes several cases of the Chinese sculptor’s creation in twentieth century.I tried to explore an intrinsic relationship in their creation. That is: studing Western sculpture provides new perspective to Chinese sculptor to think of traditional Chinese art and culture.Since the early20th century, China has introduced the system of Western sculpture. Several generations of Chinese sculptor embarked on the road of study western sculpture. Through in‐depth understanding of of western sculpture, these sculptors were able to re‐recognize traditional Chinese sculpture art with new perspective. It also led them to think of the Chinese traditional culture. Several Chinese sculptors had created their art with traditional Chinese characteristics in this way.
