| Dante was the greatest poet of Italy, the Divine Comedy can be described as miniature in medieval Italy, the ideas of Divine Comedy always expressed through images, in which Virgil was Dante’s leader, led Dante go through hell and Purgatory as the embodiment of reason and philosophy. Virgil is the greatest poet in the history of ancient Rome’s, wrote the Roman construction which named the Aeneid. This paper use the texts of Divine Comedy for study, at the same time, early14th century of Italy was the background, the author attempted to analyse the ideological and moral expression of Virgil image in the Divine Comedy, readers can understand the relations of religion, faith and philosophy, reason which come from Dante’s idea, while the blueprint of Dante’s Empire is more clear. Discussion of articles are divided into the following three parts:Part Ⅰ:firstly, the paper introduced the cultural and political background in early14th century of Italy, then analyzed the motives of Dante’s creation which, hope to advertise the correct values by the way of criticizing society at that time. The paper also introduce the image of Virgil in the history, set out the tendencies between the religion and philosophy, at the same time, the paper also summed up his political idea.Part Ⅱ:firstly, the paper analyzed the reason that Virgil was the Pathfinder of Dante’s poetry, which not only because of Virgil’s superior, but also the result of Virgil’s the Aeneid was Dante’s wish for Italy’s future-the uniform world Empire. Later, the author analyzed a major character of the image in Divine Comedy which described that Virgil can touch Dante’s soul and the others’,told us Virgil was entrusted by the Kingdom of heaven, got the necessary abilities to assist Dante. The author showed that reason and philosophy needed faith and religion to lead people truly get the right path. Then, the author thought the reason of Virgil "freewheeling" leads Dante "bypassing" the root of all evil at the sixth level of hell is because Virgil tried to improve the Epicurus and avoided the Empire’s disaster caused by the wasteful lifestyles, this coincided with the idea of Dante which try to change the present situation of Italy at that time. As the symbol of reason in philosophy in Divine Comedy, Virgil also gave Dante the guidance on the philosophy of life. Finally, the analysis held in Virgil,"Lin Bo" feature--and secular morals recently. Self-consciousness--and Virgil, author of the noble poet, recognized religious value.Part III:This part mainly studied of the relationship of Dante for religion and State. First of all, the ethics system based on Christian ethics and the ethics of Aristotle, Dante firstly approved the value of country and monarch, but at the background of Christian, he put the religion in the first place, recognized that religion as spiritual guide. Secondly, Dante advocated moderate and orderly life, certainly the rational action, required the church and the government work together to provide a happy life for the people. Then, the author told us the effect of human was worthy of recognition in Dante’s mind, he believed that nature of human is good, people are yearning for goodness and beauty as well, human can reach paradise borders Through the help of reason. Lastly, the author analyzed the same and different part of the political thought between Dante and Virgil, that is the problem of building a world Empire and Secularism. |
