On The Trap Of Language

People have always thought language traps are dangerous. In fact that is a kind of prejudice to them. Most often they confuse with ambiguity and misunderstanding and some other concepts. They have a limited understanding to their fields and the effects. These all make the language traps with an impression of horrible, mysterious and cannot be held in people’s minds. The most people are familiar to language traps, but they are lack of comprehensive understanding about them. Actually language traps take language as a carrier, appearing in various fields of people’s life, so we need to explore their rules.People’s awareness to unfamiliar things first begins with the definition of it, so if you want to let people have correctly understanding to language traps, first of all you must give them an objective and fair definition. Language traps are diverse and widespread. The only way to change their inherent image in people’s minds is showing as much as possible the appearances of language traps to people. People can better use them when they have understood the causes of language traps. Follow above ideas, this article is divided into six chapters.The first chapter mainly discusses the purpose and significance of this study, introduces the background of research and related documents. Finally it introduces the research design of this paper, from the research ideas, research methods, characteristics and innovations.The second chapter is about the connotation of language traps. First it presents a new definition of language traps and then describes many situations of language traps in detail from two aspects of the motivation and result. Finally it discriminates several relevant concepts of language traps.The third chapter mainly describes the five fields which language traps appeared and the four main effects which language traps performed. It wants to present the whole picture of language traps through their diverse forms and their different tendencies.The fourth chapter mainly analyzes the forming reasons from the language level. The language traps take language as its carrier, so the forming reasons must be related to various factors of language. This chapter makes a detailed analysis to the cause of language traps form ambiguity, presupposition, ghost word, dialect and other reasons. The fifth chapter analyses the forming reasons of language traps from the inner world of people. First it simply introduces the internal characteristics of human language expression and acception, then it analyzes the internal reasons of language traps.The sixth chapter introduces that how to overcome and apply language traps based on all above.
