Rameau is one of the most important acoustics founders in musical history. Byanalyzing and studying his solo harpsichord works, including the structural featuresof his musical form, his harmonic style characteristics, his performing skills and etc.with a comparative approach, the thesis tries to explore his music writing techniquesand structural concepts, position the artistic style and value of his harpsichord works,and thus reveal the great significance of these works to later musical composers.Chapter I prepares on some background information of Rameau, including hislife, belonging period and genre definition.Chapter II analyzes the style structure of each solo harpsichord ditty by Rameauand summarizes their characteristic structures and harmonic style.Chapter III explores his musical performing style in four aspects, including musicornaments, performing skills, expression marks and the use of music rhetoric skill.Ch’apter IV explores Rameaus unique personality and style by comparing himwith a contemporary Large Keyboard composer-Couperin F.In all, Ramea.us harpsichord works play an important role and have muchartistic value in the history of keyboard music, as well as a deep influence onlater composers.Using traditional music analysis and comparative studying approach, the thesisconcludes that Rameau not only enriched the style of slim and soft ofthe Rococo harpsichord music, and gave it a powerful style. Combined the practice ofharmony theory with keyboard music and thus turned keyboard into a musicalinstrument for harmony, Rameau led people to play melodies based on rigorousharmonies and was thus a great composer with foresight in the French Baroqueperiod.
