A Study Of Taboo In Comic Language

In recent years, there are a number of experts and scholars studying on the languagephenomenon of taboo from various angles. However, these studies come mainly from the overallgrasp and analysis, the study of personal use of linguistic taboo is still rare. In this paper, we setup a corpus including of572linguistic taboo based on Guo Degang’s cross-talk languages. Andwe take examples from the theories of semantics, rhetoric and pragmatics, drawing ondescription and analysis of corpora, and the method of dynamic and static to study the linguistictaboo. It primarily involves the definition, classification and modes of presentation, pragmaticfunction and humor strategies. All in all, the use of the linguistic taboo in Guo Degang’scross-talk languages is also a kind of humor pragmatic strategy. Nonetheless, there need to havea “degree” when using it. The full text is separated into five parts:ChapterⅠ: Introduction. Firstly, we define the linguistic taboo in the language of GuoDegang’s cross-talk by analyzing the phenomenon of taboo and taboo languages. Secondly, wesummarize the issues which will be studied in this paper and its significance. Then introduce thestatus of related subjects. Finally, we make out the corpus sources and the research methods.ChapterⅡ: According to the specific use of linguistic taboo in Guo Degang’s cross-talklanguages, it will be divided into three types from the angle of semantics: ill omen taboo, thetaboo with distains evilness associative meaning and the taboo with breaching of ethicsassociative meaning.ChapterⅢ: We analyze the modes of presentation of the linguistic taboo in Guo Degang’scross-talk languages from three angles about semantics, rhetoric and pragmatics. It mainlyincludes the direct presentation, the rhetoric presentation and the presuppositions presentation.After that, we summarize some certain rules of these uses.ChapterⅣ: First of all, we analyze and sum up the pragmatic functions of the linguistictaboo in Guo Degang’s cross-talk languages from the angle of pragmatics. There are mainlyreferred to the function of expressing humor and satire. Second of all, we study the humorstrategies of its use in the perspective of the politeness principle.ChapterⅤ: Epilogue. We summarize the research contents and achievements in the previouschapters. Through the analysis, we find out that the use of the linguistic taboo in Guo Degang’scross-talk languages is a pragmatic strategy that is used to achieve the result of humor and satire.But for the use of linguistic taboo must grasp the “degree”, only in this way can it both catering tothe audiences’ expectations about the cross-talk performance and making the cross-talk showdevelop continuously and healthily.
