As a famous writer of children’s literature, Cao Wenxuan has his particularity. Children’s literature writer, theoretical researcher and teacher of Peking University, the three identities give Cao Wenxuan content-rich views of children’s literature during the creation process. This paper collates and analyzes his novel interviews, writing essays and speeches, and discusses Cao Wenxuan’s views of children’s literature fully combined with his creations.This paper consists of five main parts. The first part expounds the impact of multiple identities on Cao Wenxuan’s views of children’s literature, and analyses the relationship between his education view, life view, aesthetic view of children’s literature and his three identities:teacher, writer and researcher respectively. The second part analyses children’s literature education view of ideological dimension from feeling sufferings and shaping national characters. The third part analyses children’s literature life view of emotional dimension from aspects of his warm-hearted touching and sad without injury compassion. The fourth part analyses children’s literature aesthetic view of aesthetic dimension from three aspects:beauty being the most powerful, bringing fantasy back to literature and meaningful humor. Based on the comprehensive grasp of Cao Wenxuan’s views of children’s literature, the fifth part makes questioning and reflection on the patterned creation, adult themes tendency and rural areas being outdated or not.Innovation of this article is mainly in three aspects. First, the choice of topic is novel. Although there have been many papers about Cao Wenxuan, only two of them focus on his views of chilaren (?)terature. They mainly combine Cao Wenxuan’s creation to discuss his views of children’s literature creation. But in this paper, the discussion of Cao Wenxuan’s views of children’s literature is more detailed and from more angles such as education view, life view and aesthetic view. Thus we firmly grasp the breadth and depth of Cao Wenxuan views of children’s literature. Second, the materials of this paper are newly selected. Existing papers on Cao Wenxuan are mainly based on his creation of children’s literature, but this paper collates and analyzes his novel interviews, writing essays, speeches and blogs, these provide many new valuable materials for researching Cao Wenxuan’s views of children’s literature. Last, this paper’s analytical perspective is novel. Existing papers only care about Cao Wenxuan’s identity of children’s literature writer. But this paper considers his three identities, mainly analyses the relationship between his education view, life view, aesthetic view of children’s literature and his three identities:teacher, writer and researcher respectively.The reason for Cao Wenxuan’s creation of children’s literature being so popular, mainly is that his readers can accept his views of children’s literature. Cao Wenxuan’s views of children’s literature are not only concerned about children’s ideological education, and develop children’s emotion, but also specially focus on improving children’s aesthetic character, to really promote their healthy growth. Under the current Chinese educational environment, it is commendable that Cao Wenxuan can propose and adhere to these children’s literature views. Although there are some problems in Cao Wenxuan’s creation of children’s literature, it does not deny his contribution to China’s children’s literature. He himself has already faced the questioning with serious reflection and has made some changes, innovation and breakthroughs in some aspects. Even more commendable is that when children’s literature is involved in commercial tide, he still holds on to his position and perseveringly defends his views of children’s literature despite of all these pressures.
