How do Actions, as the basis of performing arts, impact actors and his/her creation in his/her works in the theatre? As an ancient art of Theatre, how have Actions been developing in the long years of evolution?Theatre reformer Eugenio Barba and the company at Odin Teatret that he founded not only created a large number of outstanding theatre productions but also accomplished remarkable achievement on the actor’s training methods. Odin actors keep on exploring unique methods of training and creating to ensure that actors are in possession of superior skills. Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret attach great importance to "actions" in every aspect of their works. The International School of Theatre Anthropology (ISTA), established by Barba, opened the field of the research of "Theatre Anthropology", to explore and study the social culture of human behavior and physical meaning of human body in theatric creation.This thesis will discuss how "actions", as a significant factor, plays an important role in Actor’s training and theatric creation by means of the research of Eugenio Barba and Odin Teatret’s training and creative work. This study also aim to provide theoretical and practical reference for young theatre practitioners in Chinese theatre, and help them discover their own feasible methods in both practice and theory.
