The construction of the great site of Han Chang’an City, as one of the major construction projects in the next10years, is a complex and difficult engineering. And how to implement an overall and style coordinated transformation to residential buildings in this site is not only a significant issue concerning whether Han Chang’an City, a historic site of vital importance, can get effective and scientific protection but the most fundamental key of Han Chang’an City’s protection and planning.Chapter one is an introduction, the first half of which focuses on the history and the protection after the founding of PRC of Han Chang’an City, and the second half points out main problems existing in the construction of Han Chang’an City Ruins Park based on the field investigation of Han Chang’an City during2012to2014. This chapter also paves the way for the dissertation’s further research by reviewing scholars’ studies on Han Chang’an City and Han architecture, summarizing current achievements and then locating deficiencies of those studies.The second chapter analyses the architectural elements in the archaeological remains of Han Dynasty, summarizes basic features of Han Dynasty residential buildings in terms of roof, Dougong(a system of brackets inserted between the top of a column and a crossbeam), joist, waist eave, wall, pedestal and plane layout, and therefore provides corresponding bases for restoring Han Dynasty residential buildings.In chapter three, models of Han Dynasty residential buildings restoring are made by computer software, mainly including cad,3dmax and Photoshop, etc. To provide reference for restoring Han dynasty residential buildings, several Han Dynasty architectural models are made according to the basic features of Han Dynasty architecture mentioned in chapter two.Chapter four offers some specific comments and suggestions for the construction of Han Chang’an City Ruins Park as a whole, from the perspective of the current situation of Han Chang’an City and the restoring project of Han Chang’an City residential buildings.Chapter five, as a conclusion, sums up the main points of this dissertation and puts forward corresponding suggestions according to relevant policies of the current transformation of Han Chang’an City. In sum, This dissertation summarizes the features of the style of Han Dynasty’s constructions found in archaeological sites by referring to a wide range of relevant documents and policies and then making use of a computer cartographic tools (CAD), puts forward several concrete models to redesign and transform the existing buildings in this ruins region, which also can provide beneficial reference for the protection and transformation of this great ruins.
