Thereader can easily find a mass of description of the male artist such asBeihongXu and Fengmian Lin in any Chinese early modern art history. By contrast, there is rare mention the female artist such as Junbi Fang in these. Fang didn’t publishthe insight about the reform of the Chinese paintings which has published by theXuBeihong, as well she didn’t proposed the theory of reconciling the Chinese andwestern paintings. What we know is that Fang tells the world there is another way toexplore and pursue the art by her insisting of art makings through her whole life. Sheis not only rebel to the Chinese and western art, but also the conversion to any of them. What she has done is creation and fusion on a basis of the nation’s art style. She toldthe world what is the truth of the art using her artworks with the glory of life. Fang isthe first Chinesestudent who enrolled at the France écolenationalesupérieure desBeaux-arts de Paris, at the meanwhile, she is the first Chinese artist present at theFrance spring art salon. She started her learning from the traditional western paintings, and she experienced the radical evolution of the different art genre. Her paintingscombinedthe Impressionism, abstractionism and the college realism together, but itisn’t bounded in anyone of these genres, oppositely, Fang tried to fuse the Sketch andperspective principle into the Chinese traditional paintings. The reason why herpaintings still as the reference for the artist in today is that she formed a specialpainting methods which fused the western and Chinese techniques together. Only apeople as elegant as FangJunbi could emerge the insisting of the art belief after such aroller coaster ride. The art is derived from the living, but beyond the living, via theart paintings, Fang presents her art spirit which comes from her feel to the life andliving.
