Grade5and Grade6of primary school is transitional stagefrom primary school to middle school,it is also the critical periodof students’ personality formation as well as their rebelliousperiod.The students are in the important period of physiologicaland psychological development. As the physiological growth andpsychological development, the increase of competitivepressures, the expansin of social experiences and the changesof thinking pattern, they may encounter all sorts of problems inlearning, life, interpersonal communication and self-awareness.Ifthese problems are not solved in time, they will have badinfluence on the growth of teenagers. They may lead to behaviordisorder or personality defects and even cause psychologicaldisease which affect student’s study, friends making and daily life.Exploring the related factors influencing the students’psychological health, strengthening the Grade5and Grade6students’ mental health education, improve the psychologicalquality of primary and middle school students has become animportant topic in today’s education.This study used "the mental health diagnostic test table"(MHT) and “Family Assesment Device“(FAD) edited mainly by MrZhou Bucheng from East China normal University as a questionnaire survey in class. SPSS20.0software and MicrosoftExcel2007software were applied to the statistical depostion ofthe test results.According to the results, compared with domestic relatedresearch, there is a lower proportion of poor mental state orserious mental health problems tendency among Grade5andGrade6students in Kunming. Nearly forty percent of them are ingood mental health condition,but more than thirty percent of thestudents are in a state of psychological sub-health. They needsome mental health education to improve their psychologicalhealth level, or they may suffer from some more seriouspsychological problems in future. There was no significantgender differences of mental health in overall level (except inloneliness tendency, boys have higher loneliness tendency thangirls), but there are very significant difference in grade. Grade6students have higher scores according to all kinds criterion thanGrade6students.In addition, the proportion of serious deficiencies in familyeducation function is not high in Grade5and Grade6students ofKunming, nearly forty percent students can accept good familyeducation. There was no significant gender differences of family education function in overall level, but there are very significantdifference in grade.Students’ mental health level and the family educationfunction has very significant correlations. Positive correlations atthe top three in turn are the body symptom and communication,the loneliness tendency and role,and the anxiety andcommunication. Significant negative correlations are showed intwo items: impulse tendecy and problem solving, impulsetendecy and behavioral control. Positive correlations also existsin other8items,such as learning-related anxiety and emotionalresponse, irritable tendency and general fuuction.Famliy education is the key factor that influence the mentalhealth status of pupils. Enhancing the guidance to famliyeducation and increasing the famliy education level are the mosteffective ways to advance the pupils’ mental health. Schools andsociety should undertake this responsibility to promote pupils’growth.The author suggest the schools and society strengthenfamily education guidance, enhance the level of the parents, soas to fundamentally improve the students’ psychological healthlevel.
