In the development of the freehand brushwork of flowers and birds featured as “directsthe book to be picturesque”, Chen chun,a famous painter in Ming Dynasty, has made a greatcontribution to the Chinese bird-and-flower ink painting.He was particular about thesentiment and technique and combine the calligraphy and painting together. He also enhancethe effect of bird-and-flower ink painting and promote its development. In the forming of thestyle, the calligraphy using play a critical role. on account of this, the sentiment can beshowed thoroughly hit off. The combination the painting and the calligraphy present its spicein the leaf and grass in the painting. Because he can use his painting style to express his ownfeelings, he show his gentle and noble personal charming in the painting, which left an greatimpression in Art history.His accomplishment in art was influenced by his teacher WenZhengming.But he absorbed strength in bird and flower, landscape, calligraphy,especially the influence of Shen Zhou is more than that of Wen Zhengming in the field of birdand flower. And his painting is typical in traditional technique painting in the development ofthe bird and flower painting. He made a improvement in what Shen Zhou did and developedthe painting style in art fielding. The intervening of calligraphy in mixture of calligraphy andpainting laid a foundation of traditional pattern. Practically, t also lay a foundation in thepainting style style of Xu Wei、Ba Da, Wu Changshuo. Since he can put calligraphy into itspainting, he can form the painting style.There are two mainly factors.one is the sametechnique of calligraphy and painting.The other is the same sentiment showed in calligraphyand painting. His paint style can be formed was due to his experience in technique. On thecontrary, his calligraphy style leads to the growing and coming into being in the paintingtechnique.This kind of style mainly depends on three preconditions.First, the free andopen-minded personality charm. Second,the high accomplishment in calligraphy and thepenetrating insight. Third, independent style system and the strong creativity. Since he has agood command in this three preconditions,his painting can be bestowed the vitality, whichleads to the new development. His painting style became mature in his later step and it ishard to describe it in some brief words. The whole painting was always mixed with thecalligraphy and the bird and flower,showing the painting by calligraphy and painting. What he used in the calligraphy style in cursive art made his painting dilled with feature ofcalligraphy.The forming of his painting style played a key role in the development of bird-and-flower painting in China. It influenced the painting pattern in the latter bird and flowertraining.such as the work of Xu Wei、Ba Da, Wu Changshuo、Qi Baishi,who are therepresentative figure. In his painting with calligraphy strain, his painting style and calligraphystyle come down in continuous one. And the rhythm in painting technique and the feelings inthe painting can supplement each other. The aesthetic taste in combination of painting andcalligraphy can represent the tendency of traditional bird and flower painting in China. So,we can realize that the Chinese calligraphy express the same spiritual intention andpresentation technique in traditional bird and flower painting.His bird and flower painting has become the six aesthetic pursuit in people’s mind for along time. The verve was showed in the cultivation of the modeling beauty of combinationin painting.,including the deep consideration of conception and enthusiastic interest. And theverve also shows the outline of modeling beauty, mixture of time and space object, thetechnique of the brush and ink.Thus, thousand “stroke” is classified as one “picture”.
