As an important trend in the development of the world music, the rise ofelectronic music is the sign of the establishment of a new thinking of music creation,creative means, timbre and music form. It displays a distinctive, profound,epoch-making music culture development trend that is closely related with scienceand technology. It matures gradually in rapidly changing social practice and enjoys ascene of prosperity.Today, with music globalization and integration, Chinese modern electronicmusic has come to be known to the world as a genre. Xiaofu Zhang, as a Chineseelectronic music composer with the most representative features, claims influence inthe area of serious electronic music creation both at home and abroad. His concept ofcreation, vision, aesthetic, techniques and expression of comprehensive andinterdisciplinary art forms are successful with great achievements, therebycontributing remarkably to laying a solid foundation for Chinese electronic musicdevelopment and planning.This paper analyzes Beijing Opera Visages Painting of Peking Opera II and NuoRi Lang, two electronic music compositions,by Zhang. In China, in the process ofrapid development of modern electronic music, the special connotation of Chineseethnical flavor is intertwined with value of "music symbols". A comparative analysisis undertaken from multiple perspectives to find out the commonness andindividualities of these two works, based on which the composer’s concepts andtechnical features are further elaborated.
