Based on the results of previous studies on the emotional impact on source memory, there are the weakening impact, the enhancing impact and the absence of impact of the emotional stimuli on source memory. Three experiments, using multi-key paradigm and analyzed by eye movement technique to further investigate the emotional impact mechanism on source memory, are designed in this study.Experiment 1: the emotional impact of a picture on source memory. It is found that the emotional valence of pictures causes differences in source memory of the participants, the correct rate of the participants on the positive and negative pictures is significantly higher than on the neutral pictures, the processing times of the negative picture is significantly more than that of the neutral pictures and the positive pictures, the regression count of the neutral pictures is on the high side, old and new differences occurs in eye movement indices such as total fixation duration, number of fixations, pupil size. Experiment 2: emotional word impact on source memory. Behavior results demonstrate that the score of negative words is better than that of neutral words and positive words, old and new effects occurs in eye movement indices, but no difference occurs in emotion. Exper iments 3: the emotional consistency impact on source memory. Regarding correct rate and reaction time indices, in the event of inconsistent emotional valence of words, the score is obviously better than that in the event of consistent emotional valence of words, thus resulting in anti emotional consistency. In the event of consistent positive emotion, the change of pupil size, total fixation duration, regression in count, number of fixation of the participants are obviously on the high side. The attention of the participants on the top left corner position is obviously on the high side, resulting in the emergence of position effect. The above study results indicate: The emotional stimuli can enhance source memory, but the effect of emotional words is obviously not as good as emotional pictures. Eye movement technique can make a real-time tracking of the process of source memory, and can provide a wide range of data to support it, and therefore, it is suitable for research on source memory.
