As a language phenomenon, intentional ambiguity is prevalent in the process of human communication, and has long been brought into sharp focus by scholars, but the research on intentional ambiguity is mostly static, not dynamic, and few scholars studied intentional ambiguity from the perspective of language philosophy. Intentional ambiguity, one of communication strategies,is closely related to philosophy. Based on the theory of Wittgenstein’s language game, this paper tries to study a variety of factors that influence intentional ambiguity by combining multiple horizons. To begin with, the basic structure of the theory of Wittgenstein’s language game is introduced and this will be followed by a description of the factors caused by intentional ambiguity, such as language, context, speakers and listeners. So guided by the theory of Wittgenstein’s language game, we will more fully understand intentional ambiguity. From the aspects of the living world and use of language, details on the relevant concepts in intentional ambiguity and the theory of Wittgenstein’s language game are presented in the following section. The final section analyzes intentional ambiguity and the theory of Wittgenstein’s language game from the dimensions of language, people and context.Under the guidance of the theory of Wittgenstein’s language game, this paper provides a new philosophical perspective for intentional ambiguity.
