"Eternal recurrence" is one of the most important theories in Nietzsche’s philosophy, in some aspect the emergence of this theory shows that Nietzsche’s work is mature. Generally people think that eternal recurrence is Nietzsche’s fantasy, because he said that story in his autobiography, in fact the very beginning of his philosophy Nietzsche already had this kind of thinking with "eternity" and "recurrence", and during that time he tried to establish his own philosophy. "Eternal recurrence" is with his mind from time to time. As the construction process of their system of philosophy, the concept of eternal recurrence followed along with the development and maturity. As known the theory of eternal recurrence is probably the most complicated and very easy-misunderstanding one in his work, and his writing style added more difficulties on it, so there have so many argues and discussions. I think the reason that led to this situation is people have taken Nietzsche’s thinking separately and chosen single line of work to understand eternal recurrence. The main cause of this situation is divided in different periods of Nietzsche’s philosophy, one-sided understanding means eternal recurrence from a single text, rather than from a historical perspective of the development of the survey and analysis of theory of eternal recurrence. While a theory of interpretation contending ever-changing, but if not in a systematic and vision, isolated discussions drawn is totally untenable, from another perspective, this argument does not make sense. What I will do in this paper is inspect the development of eternal recurrence, and try to arrange the clue how this theory develop from the beginning. Finally I want to prove that the birth of eternal recurrence is not what Nietzsche said that so occasional, but with his reason. I hope by investigating the three periods of Nietzsche’s philosophy, will be the core concept of Nietzsche’s different period to do a sorting, comparing and combining these concepts and the close relationship between the development of eternal recurrence, and try to get the eternal wings more plump, the doctrine of rebirth and hope through this effort, let researchers and enthusiasts of Nietzsche’s specific connotation and meaning of eternal recurrence, and thus a better understanding of Nietzsche’s philosophy, and solve some issue about the theory of eternal recurrence.
