| The Po-phase flower is one of the typical Chinese traditional decorative patterns, the only beautiful plant pattern which can be comparable with that of dragon phoenix, featuring with full shape, radial petals and rich and flowery style, favored by modern fashion designers for its beautiful appearance and its complication of good fortune, wealth and happiness. The study discusses the origin, the elements, the characteristics and the beauty of the pattern by researching into the literature on the Po-phase flower. The thesis also analyses the application of the pattern in modern dress design and explores the further innovation of the design so as to expand wider developing space for the pattern with modern design ideas and modern decorating techniques. |
