In the sight of the anthropology of art, the research methods ofpersonal life history have been used by many researchers, but not relatedto the artist field. And some scholars have paid attention to the researchof artist in art anthropological Perspective, but mostly to the group ofartists, the art market, the living conditions, and ecological study ofthe art community. The study of local individual artists is not enough.Under this background, this paper studies the artist’s personal lifehistory, to bring a new perspective to the study of life history andartists in the vision of the anthropology of art.The perspective of the anthropology of art don’t focus on theindividual artist, but on the living environment of artist, creativesubject of the art, and the whole concept of cultural and life behind thecreative subject. Life history studies don’t preach individualism, butto highlight the close relationship between the individual and thecollective, the personal and society. In this paper, I will analyze theart cognition and development of Yunnan calligrapher Chen Hongling whois a Yunnan calligrapher, in different cultural environment, andinterpret the relationship of the change of social culture, ChenHongling’s growth process and the pursuit of calligraphy art from theperspective of art Anthropology in the methods of life history research,trying to show the relationship between cultural environment and theartist’s growthFrom the longitudinal time latitude context, this article mainlyintroduces Chen Hong Ling’s personal life history, interprets thedevelopment and pursuit of Chen Hongling in different time background,who tried to adapt to the changes of life and cultural space, to exhibitthe shaping process of community artists, and to reveal the adjustmentadaptation of the artist individual. The first part mainly describes that Chen Hongling who was birthed and grew up in the Cultural Revolution, wasaffected by the ideas of family life and cultural environment of formationand became interest in the art of calligraphy. The second part mainlystates that for the survival and growth of the arts Chen Hongling tookhis own efforts to create favorable conditions in which he experiencedthe different art categories that were helpful for the overall growth ofthe arts. The third part describes that Chen Hongling received the highereducation, so his theoretical knowledge and practical ability of Chineseand Western art was greatly improved; that on the road of calligraphy arthe enhanced constantly the cognition of the calligraphy art, gettingrecognized by society. The fourth part describes that for the long-termdevelopment, Chen Hongling adhere to the road of the calligraphy art, anddue to limitations of professional identity, he who not only creates agood learning environment for students, but also through his philosophyof education to teach students dutifully, treats calligraphy traditionin higher education as his main heritage. The conclusion mainly describesthat the life history of artists in different cultural context changes,and the influence on the concept and art creation of the artist. Therefore,we should build a more healthy art ecological environment for the growthof today’s artists.
