Ian McEwan is one of the most influential writers in the contemporary literature of the British. With the huge changes happened to his life and social status, the language style, text structure, type and focus of McEwan’s articles also changes a lot. Because of the character of himself, McEwan became a writer always seek to breakthrough himself and try new styles. Therefore, my research subject about the change of McEwan’s novels turns to be meaningful.Except the introduction and conclusion, my paper is mainly divided into five aspects:In my introduction, i firstly summarize the condition of writing of McEwan; Secondly, I conclude the achievements made by former people and analyze the problem in these; at last, i put forward the object and key point of my paper.In the first chapter, I will analyze how the changes happened to the McEwan’s work by dividing his career in 1970s,1980s and 1990s. Then i research the features in different period.In the second chapter, I will focus on the "sick figures", which is the character shaped by McEwan to express problem of his age. By analyze "sick figures" from different social classes, I will explain why McEwan changes his objects.In the third chapter, I will focus changes on the structure of his novels. By analyze different expresses of scenes in his novels in 70s,80s and 90s, I will try to explain why those changes happened and how his novels evolved.In the fourth chapter, I plan to focus on the changes on the angles of his articles. By analyze the application of different angles and actual effect of every angle, my paper will try to explain the importance and meaning of different angles.In the last chapter, I am going to analyze the changes happened to McEwan’s works by taking McEwan himself and his ages into consideration. By some analysis on his early life, his family, political background and so on, I try to understand the actual meaning of his works and those "sick figures" in his novels.In my conclusion, i will summarize all the opinions of this paper.
