Mo Yan is one of the excellent writers in China. The frequently occurred animal images in his novels play an important narrative role, have multiple significance and show the ingenious narrative strategy and unique aesthetic pursuit of Mo Yan. This paper aims at deeply studying Mo Yan’s novel and discussing the uniqueness of the animal writing of Mo Yan and its formation cause. This paper tries to discuss the animal writing of Mo Yan by intensive reading of the text based on Mo Yan’s novel text. This paper has three parts. Part Ⅰ combs the features of animal writing at different stages in Mo Yan’s novels according to the time sequence and divides the animal writing of Mo Yan into three stages:At the first stage, the animal writing exists as the background, which is a part of living environment,work in concert with two kinds of life style:marvelous and ordinary.At the second stage the animal writing changes into the prospect and join into the story,expresses the worry of Mo Yan.And at the final stage the animal writing becomes diversified, showing a tendency of generalization and grammaticalization.,which shows Mo Yan’s various exploration.Part Ⅱ divides the animal morphology in Mo Yan’s novels into four classes:consensus, personification, zoosemy and reference and discusses the way that the animal shows the human world. People and animal have similar mental outlook,in a similar fate,feel each orther’s emotions.This is the faith in all things have spirit.Animals can communicate with people and judge the mankind.People change into animals is feral recovery and please to trouble.Part Ⅲ studies the formation mechanism of animal writing of Mo Yan. Based on his profound life experience, by references to the folk legend and folktales, classical novels and other Chinese traditional resources and absorbing the writing experience of foreign countries, especially the magic realism, Mo Yan creates a novel style and unique animal writing.
