In1976, the opera "Einstein on the Beach"premiere in the French Avignon Festivalin November,then continue performed at the Metropolitan Opera and received greatacclaim. The opera is considered to be the landmark work in performances andinternational operations in20th century, and regarded as a cultural icon status.Composer Philip Glass and director Robert Wilson receive great praise, therefore theybecome internationally renowned artists.The thesis consists of six parts of an introduction,four chapters and conclusion.Thefirst chapter focuses on the life and creation of the composer Philip Glass and directorRobert Wilson,grasp their life and creative path,to further deepen the understandingof the work.The second chapter elaborate"Einstein on the Beach" creative process andelaborate plot, which to grasping the opera generation and theater level.The thirdchapter will be the analysis of plot, structure, music, and non-musical factors detailedof the opera, explore the composer and director unique creative way.The fourthchapter is based on the third chapter, explained"Einstein on the Beach" musical ideas,inheritance and development from their predecessors, inspiration and influence onmodern opera and real life.Conclusion is based on the contents of the four chapters of"Einstein on the Beach" to summarize and review this work in music history.
