A Study On The Space Narrative Of Duanmu Hongliang 's Novels

Duan Mu hongliang had a special description about space in his fictions, suchas boundless Flag well-known horqin grassland, brutal winds of wilderness, birchforest of river. These things are taken expertly in his novel. In his fictions, spaceusing will be found in narrative and push on the narrative. The spatial narrative ismanifested in many aspects, just like the straightforward which the NortheastPeople oppose. This thesis attempts to explore what kind of narrative measure areused by Duan Mu hongliang to present the spatial narrative elements from manyaspects, integrating the expressive effect of these elements and revealing theliterary traits of his fictions.This thesis contains three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. In thefirst part, the literature review is introduced so as to put forward the viewpoint thatDuan Mu hongliang prefers to the research of spatial narrative. Besides, this partmakes demonstration for its significance and research methodology.The main body divides into four chapters. Chapter One puts the focus oncharacteristics of spatial narrative. The physical space aspect and virtual spaceaspect are discussed to imply the special narrative method. Chapter Two makesanalysis for the arrangement of spatial narrative skills, including conversion tocreate polyphonic space, montage, adjustment for time and space, making streamof consciousness to slow down the narrative pace, with the result that it advancesthe narrative purposes by means of showing the space. Chapter Three explores theaffected factors of narrative features. The motivation of his creation is his deeplove for the nature and nostalgia emotions to homeland hidden in the bottom ofheart, which is learned from Tolstoy, Lu Xun and The Dream of Red Mansion intraditional literature. Chapter Four concentrates on the significance of spatialnarrative. It forms poetic lyrical style, increases the possibility of understandinghistorical context and geographical culture.In the last part, it makes summary for Duan Mu hongliang’s fictions artistic charm and makes analysis for the exploiting value and significance on spatialnarrative.In a word, this paper goes over the presentation of spatial narrativefeature in his fictions comprehensively by the mean of the detailed reading of textand the relevant historical data so that it gets close to Duan Mu hongliang from anew level of a narrative angel and makes us know him and his novel more deeply.
