A Study On The Design Of Chinese Museum

The importance and necessity of description text in museums has been widely accepted. As an important media to convey information, descriptiontext should be readable and understandable; and the design of description texty is the key to achieve that purpose.Nowadays, Description typography is no longer a simple assistant tool for exhibits in museum, but a part of exhibits in museums. It is a development trend to grasp scientific standard of the designs and artistry expression of the description typography.First, the existing problems of description typography in Chinese museums were studied by both exploring museum surveys and observing visitors in museums. Then the troubleshooting, which was based on ergonomics statistical analysis and museum investigations, was focused on the title of description text, suitable fonts for text, the number of words on the board, and the lower limit of font size. By studying the design cases in different museums in the world widely, the artistry and visualization of description typography in museums was shown. And finally it was integrated and analyzed in the case of Chinese wood carving Museum exhibition hall, in the design of which the author got involved.
