Zhao Jiping, who is a famous musician and composer in China, he is well-known for his classical by the public. He has won a lot achievement in movie music, at the same time, his national orchestral music works have been often performed on the concert stage for many years. Therefore the article’s object of study is the seven large national orchestral works which has been officially published for band by Zhao Jiping. In fact, this type of works has taken the pace of its development in the period of new China seventeen years, while Zhao Jiping’s national orchestral music creation has witnessed the trend of the development of Chinese national orchestral music after the period of reform and opening. Zhao Jiping’s national orchestral music creation has solved Chinese folk music creation’s bottlenecks problem that how to make it large, symphonic and national and organic combination before the eighties by using its unique northwest national characteristics and the reference of western large orchestral music creation. Especially in the decade after the 21 st century, Zhao Jiping’s many classical national orchestral music works has made outstanding contributions for Chinese folk music works’ nationalization and large-scale exploration. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the creation of Zhao Jiping’s national orchestral music, while Zhao Jiping’s national orchestra music works will be put under the background of the development of Chinese national orchestral music after the founding of New China and studied. This kind of research method makes the study to Zhao Jiping’s national orchestral music to be more scientific and comprehensive, and according to comparative analysis on Zhao Jiping’s national orchestral music works and famous composers works in various periods in this area, the creation commonality and individuality from Zhao Jiping and the composers in various periods are found, at the same time specific contribution of Chinese national orchestral music’s development by Zhao Jiping was known. Thus, after finishing the research on Zhao Jiping’s national orchestral music creation, it will make a general analysis and study about the Chinese national orchestral music’s status of development since new China was founded.
