A Study On The Category Of "Xinghui" In Chinese Classical Aesthetics

‘Xinghui’ is an important category of China classical aesthetics, it is also an important embodiment of the uniqueness of the aesthetic way of thinking of the Chinese nation.On one hand, study on ‘Xinghui’ can have a deeper understanding of China classical literature and art. on the other hand, using modern aesthetic theory to interpret the classical category can also reveal its deep aesthetic connotation. The thesis consists of four parts, respectively discusses the developing process of the word ‘Xing’ and the word‘Hui’, the evolution rules of ‘Xinghui’ itself in ancient China, ‘Xinghui’’s thought foundation, aesthetic psychology process, aesthetic characteristics and its classical aesthetic value. Determine its concept through the study of etymology, inference its developing rules by studying its frequency of occurrences and semantic in literary and artistic works, analysis its aesthetic connotation through the theoretical achievements of aesthetic psychology, interpret its aesthetic value through grasping the characteristics of chinese poetry and painting. The study draws the conclusion finally: ‘Xinghui’ is a psychological resonance state in which subject and object of aesthetic activities communicate with each other, cycle up(to the peak). It comes from the subject’s social and historical practice and it is the projection of human essential power and self reflection. It’s affected by four factors: perception, imagination, emotion and understanding, and it’s not only the beginning but also the key point of aesthetic creation and appreciation. ‘Xinghui’ exists in various forms in the classical works of literature and art, the diversity of its aesthetic connotation increases with aesthetic consciousness improving of the ancient people. Besides that, the thesis references the concept‘Peak-Experience’ raised by humanistic psychology aesthetics, and tentatively elaborates the feature of transcendence of the high rank of ‘Xinghui’.
