Academic procrastination refers to the model that individuals put duties off based on their behavior habits. While time perspective and self-monitoring as two principle factors which have impact on academic procrastination, the study focused on the relationship among the three could provide a valuable solution for students’ procrastination.The study revised secondary school student time management self-monitoring scale based on open questionnaire, expert interview and exploratory factor analysis, and then used it with time perspective questionnaire, academic procrastination questionnaire to research 800 undergraduates who were chosen randomly from four colleges in Yunnan. After analyzing the data from the study, we found these conclusions:1. Undergraduate time self-monitoring is good as a whole. The score on positive past time perspective is higher and on fateful present time perspective is lower. The students from different school are on the same level of time perspective. The score on hedonism time perspective of students who major in literature and science are significantly higher than students who major in art, while boys are higher than girls. And the scores on hedonism and fateful time perspective of students who have on siblings are higher than students who have no siblings.2. Undergraduate time self-monitoring is good as a whole, which is higher than average. The students of different school, gender, grade and major are on the same level of time self-monitoring.3. Undergraduate academic procrastination is critical. The students of different gender, grade, major, school, siblings are on the same level academic procrastination, except the score on lowing expectation factor is significantly different between the students who have and have no siblings.4. the correlative study shows that the three types of time perspective, which include negative past, hedonism, future time perspective, are significantly related with time self-monitoring and academic procrastination, and the scores of students who have high level academic procrastination on these three types and time self-monitoring are significantly lower than low level ones. Undergraduate time self-monitoring and its’ factors are negatively related to academic procrastination and its’ factors.5. Undergraduate time perspective and time self-monitoring both have significantly direct effect on academic procrastination, and the former one has intermediate effect on academic procrastination via time self-monitoring.Based on the results, we can make some recommendations to our education.
