| Academic procrastination is an common phenomenon among college students.As we know,academic procrastination leads to low academic achievement and has negative impact on individual's physical and mental health.Because of the destructive consequences of academic procrastination,more and more educators and psychologists are interested in this field,their studies have enriched the existing theories and provide a theoretical basis for procrastination intervention.Combing the previous research,we find three variables which have a greater impact on academic procrastination based on different time perception of individual's. They are academic delay of gratification,time discounting and future time perspective.In this study,we use?Future Time Perspective Scale?,?Academic Delay of Gratification Scale?,?Procrastination Assessment Scale?and the situation questionnaire to measure these variables.The main results of this study are as follows:(1)Academic procrastination.There are no significant difference among gender,grade,where the students come from and whether they are the only child of their families.But there is significant difference among special field of study.there is significant differences in writing paper between seniors and freshmen.there are also significant difference in exam preparation and academic management among different majors.(2)Future time perspective has significant negative correlation with academic procrastination.(3)Time discounting has significant positive correlation with academic procrastination.Future time perspective is a partly mediator between time discounting and academic procrastination.(4)Academic delay of gratification has significant negative correlation with academic procrastination.Future time perspective is a total mediator between academic delay of gratification and academic procrastination.(5)As a mediator,future time perspective can mitigate the negative impact of time discounting to academic behavior. |
