It has been over five thousand years since the origination of ancient civilization of HuaXia which was founded by the Han nationality to discriminate from other tribes or nations in ancient Era. The people of Han nationality migrated and spread to many other places in this period. Indigenous peoples in Yunnan province was not the Han nationality, no doubt. Gradually, the civilization of Han rooted in as the ancients of Han nationality began to move to Yunnan and alienated in Pre-Qin period. This culture of Yunnan Lantern was exactly one of the magnificent fruits of the Han culture. Nowadays,Yunnan Lantern includes Lantern Drama and Lantern dances with songs, and these two mainstreams are external performance of Yunnan Lantern that aimed at expressing some kinds of life significance by different artist expression. Lantern songs and lantern dances, which are absolute fundamentally in Yunnan Lantern. Then, as the body language of dance culture of Han nationality, lantern dances has become a key-mark in this multinational environment of Yunnan.Nevertheless, the development of Lantern Dances in Yunnan is relatively slowed that comparing with local music and operas. The author tries to find answers of this in the pity of current conditions and developing tendency. With regards to this, local culture is the first step for researching of Lantern Dances in Yunnan. This paper will put emphasis on the example of Midu Lantern to differentiate and analyze cultural characteristics of Yunnan Lantern in the relationship of these two objects. Furthermore,this research could not be perfect just took out of its own special area. For exploring generality and personality characteristics to reflect on application value of school-teaching, this should start form regional and national characters. Thus, teaching materials of regional Yunnan Lantern are for mastering the souls deeply from the moves to the cores, then the figurations can be held and obtain double results in teaching.This paper consists of the introduction, the body and the conclusion of which the body is divided into three chapters. Firstly,there are five parts of the introduction which are origin of the topics, related research reviews, research methods, theoretical basis and analysis of related core concepts. Secondly, the first chapter of the body is the discussion of cultural characteristics of Yunnan Lantern from overview of time and space. The second chapter takes the case of Midu Lantern of empirical analysis to get the conclusion that regional characteristics of lantern dance cultural is the result of generality and personality characteristics. Then the author putting forth the proposition that lacking the personality characteristics is just what need in teaching materials of Yunnan Lantern is in the third chapter. To this end, rethinking of application and research into practice, give inspiration of whole new teaching materials of regional characteristics of lantern dance in Yunnan. The conclusion proposes the prospective future in Lantern Dances and summarizes some insufficiencies.
