Hearing The Resounded Lantern Festival Ever

Guzheng is one of the most representative traditional musical instruments in China.It has been playing a significant role in the developmental history of Chinese national music for thousands of years.There are many schools of Guzheng performance,with the saying of "the vast nine schools in China",in which the Henan Zheng School is being loved by the publics due to its magnificent style.Most of Cao Dongfu's early works consisted of Bantou songs that he collated and scored.After the founding of People's Republic of China,he gradually formed a unique Cao style Guzheng art style.The "Lantern Festival" is a very representative work of this period.Academic research about the Henan Zheng School is mostly focus on the development history,playing skills,musical characteristics and representative figures of the Henan Zheng School.Meanwhile,analyses of musical works are typically about the comparisons of performing schools of lofty mountains and flowing water;instead,studies on the analysis of Celebrate the Lantern Festival is rather limited.Although a few academic works analysed it,most of them are confined to performing techniques and few of them take the viewpoint of folklore.This thesis applies literature research method and performing experience summarization method to creatively commence the study from origin and historical background of the composition,exploring relationships between the folk-custom of “Celebrate the Lantern Festival” and the musical work of Celebrate the Lantern Festival.Combining the analysis of musical characteristics and playing techniques,this study aims at digging deep into the profound meaning of the Chinese word “Nao” in the Celebrate the Lantern Festival.The first chapter starts with the consideration of origin and background of the composition and explores the relationships between local music,local dialects,the Lantern Festival and the music of Celebrate the Lantern Festival.Celebrate the Lantern Festival incorporates elements of henan local music,such as Nanyang bantou,Henan opera.Simultaneously,the characteristics of Henan dialect and the feature of overlapping words in speaking are also motives of the composition of Celebrate the Lantern Festival.From the perspective of folklore,there are also a number of sections in Celebrate the Lantern Festival describe the celebration of Lantern Festival.The second and third chapters commence with musical characteristics and performing techniques to analyze the entire music work in depth.Take the word “Nao” as a clue,The word "Nao" is both a verb and a noun,and the verb is the jollification effect of explosive techniques,while the noun is the jollification effect of dialect,local music and rhythm.The last chapter analyzes the similarities and differences of several performers in the performance of this work,and combined with the concert and designs the stage layout and costumes.Combining with the author's performing experience,the design takes the advantage of lantern,which is the representative element of the Lantern Festival,and interweaves it with the stage and costumes to present the music work of Celebrate the Lantern Festival in a better way.
