Taiwan University Art Museum And Contemporary Curatorial Experiment

The thesis chooses two cases of two university art museums in Taiwan——Kuandu Biennale of KdMoFA(Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts) in Taipei National university of the Arts and One Piece Museum Project of MoNTUE(Museum of National Taipei University of Education), exploring how they construct the developing way and opeation strategy that is differ from public art museum by analyzing its history evolution,operating system and specific cases. The thesis emphasizes that the university art museum should become a new conceptual and mental experimental area, its curating should combined with university’s multi-disciplinary teaching and research resources, at the same time, be widely involved in society and culture, realizes its special function that is differ from public art museum.The Introduction points out the origin and focus of the whole thesis. The mainbody is divided into three parts. Chapter one discusses the special relationship between university art museums and contemporary curating as well as a few problems of contemporary curating in Taiwan, providing a clear background for the discussion of the two university art museums.Chapter two makes the KdMoFA as the research object, analyzing the museum from macroscopic and microcosmic ways.Chapter three make MoNTUE as the research object, analyzing the OPM project on the basis of the history and operating system of MoNTUE,etc. Conclusion stresses the fuction and feature of university art museum in contemporary society and culture, affirms the two university art museum’s successful experience, and then make critical analysis and expectation of them further.
