A Research On The Ecology Of Contemporary Chinese Art Curators

Curation has become a crucial part in contemporary art ecological chain,and the development of art curation,along with the accomplishment of the curatorial system is attributed as the primary driving impetus to the advancement of contemporary art.Nowadays,in the trend of globalization and marketization and the context of art prosperity,it is declared to be an era of curators,in which their positions and value have been generally acknowledged in art ecology and dominance gradually affirmed in art exhibitons,with growing professional demand and occupations.However,as to the working environment and condition of contemporary Chinese art curators,their development is far from ideal expectation,with a series of subjective or objective problems and contradictions increasingly aggravating in the axpanding occupational team.The main existing problems of Chinese art curators present as low evaluation criterion,inadequate profession qualities,and numerous unqualifed practitioners.Meanwhile,Chinese curators are restriced to several objective factors,such as the imperfection of art funds and patronate mechanism,the disorder of art market,the incompletion of laws and ragulations,and the complexity of curating operation.These problems above make up a great challenge to curators' work and survival,and leave them constantly questioned,criticized and heckled.It is of necessity to undertake a deep exploration and thorough analysis to the various current problems and contradictions existing among Chinese curators,in order to gain people's clear cognition of curating profession and genuine respect to curators.The research of the ecology of curators is required to start these issues."Ecology" refers to people's living situation in a certain environment and the interaction between people and environment.The research on the ecology of contemporary Chinese art curators basically focuses on the ecological environment of society,industry and art that curators are living in to study their living situations and conditions,and their attitudes and actions in this ecological environment,namely how they actively intervene in this ecological system and participate in ecological construction.In this direction,this research is to objectively depict the ecological status quo of Chinese art curators and clarify the subjective and objective problems among them with causes and interests,exploring a promising development road of art curating ecology.
